Animation explaining adaptapod.
BACKGROUND
BENEFITS
Very often one of the chief impediments to a disabled person returning home
from hospital after catastrophic injury is the lack of accessible toilet and washing facilities.
The adaptapod provides just this temporary facility in a ‘self contained box’
which in most cases can be craned into position to the rear of the property.
The ‘box’ or adaptapod is fully fitted with an adjustable disabled toilet,
wash hand basin and shower facility. It is then linked to the back door of
the property via a temporary link corridor enabling level access from the
property to the fully fitted adjustable bathroom unit. This enables a
disabled person to have some dignity without disruption to the family
home until more suitable arrangements can be made.
Craning the pod into position avoids the messy transportation of
materials through the site.
The benefits are obvious:
- Out of hospital faster (thus releasing a hospital bed)
- Immediate return to family/familiar surrounding
- No permanent alteration to the property
- Pod can be removed easily and the property reinstated very quickly
- 8 weeks from order to delivery (frequently faster)
- Total independence for user
- No reduction in house value
- Minimum disruption
